Why the Pilbara Region Inspired Our Toughest Dive Watch

The Pilbara region of Western Australia is remote, rugged, and rich in character – a perfect muse for our most adventure-ready dive watch.

At Houtman, we’ve always been drawn to stories rooted in place. The Pilbara isn’t just vast and beautiful; it’s demanding. With temperatures soaring past 45°C, iron-rich red dust blanketing everything, and a coastline where land meets reef in spectacular fashion – it asks a lot of anyone (or anything) venturing in.

That’s exactly what inspired the Pilbara Series. We wanted to create a dive watch that could hold its own in the toughest environments – from backcountry trails to underwater caves. And not just survive, but look damn good doing it.

With a robust stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, 200m water resistance, and high-contrast dials designed for low-light readability, the Pilbara isn’t just named after Australia’s wildest frontier – it was born from it.

Whether you're diving, hiking, or desk-bound dreaming of adventure, the Pilbara keeps the spirit of exploration on your wrist.
